The 30+ muscles in the head and neck are responsible for many important tasks. When the one gets injured, there is a profound adverse impact on your daily life.
The muscles of the head and neck perform many important tasks, including movement of the head and neck, chewing and swallowing, speech, facial expressions, movement of the eyes, and functions of the inner ear. These diverse tasks require both strong, forceful movements and some of the fastest, finest, and most delicate adjustments in the entire human body.
Since there are over 30 muscles that must work together to do all the complicated muscle movements, you can imagine that when one or more of these muscles get tired or injured, what a profound adverse impact that will have on your daily life.
It is a must that the head and neck muscles must be given ample protection and relief because ailments in these areas can lead to worse pains across the body. That is where Bowenwork® can help!
Bowenwork® is a system of touch that initiates a series of responses through stimulation of the nervous, musculoskeletal, fascial and energetic systems of the human body. Practitioners perform sequences of small stimulations, called “moves”, on specific points on the body, interspersed with rest periods.
The Bowenwork® moves stimulate mechanoreceptors (nerve endings) that overlie both muscles and acupoints. The body’s response to this stimulation, which begins during the rest periods, includes a balancing of the autonomic nervous system and changes in the musculoskeletal system in the direction of increased symmetry. These effects, in turn, remove blockages to the free flow of energy in the body.
From the point of view of complementary health care, when the body’s nervous and energetic systems are in balance, its physical, emotional and mental functions are able to return to a healthy state.
